Rob Sollis is a Raku Potter who originated as a member of the famous Dartington Pottery Workshop in 1984. In 1991 he set up Fishacre Pottery in Littlehempston, near Totnes in Devon and has specialised in making a large range of hand-thrown Raku fired ceramics ever since.Since working at Pinewood Studios making ceramics for Ridley Scott's science fiction epic Prometheus, Rob has developed unique new large-scale making techniques and firing methods.

“In the Beginning" The opportunity to learn to throw pots in my lunch hour at school was a life line to an otherwise very ordinary existence at my comprehensive school Ravensbourne Boys in Bromley. Initial enthusiasm was sparked by an inspired art faculty head MR R WIllis. Over the next few terms, whilst in my forth year, that inspiration became imbedded in me and, before the year was out, I had made the throwing room my domain. This led to studying ceramics and art to both 'O' and' 'A' levels and despite average grades my confidence had grown. By the time I left school in 1984, having been awarded an Art prize for my efforts in ceramics, the offer of a place to further my skills at the respected Dartington Pottery Training Workshop seemed a natural course.
